I started last night having this issue. One pc last night started having a computation error saying output file was absent. Now 2 pc's are having the same issue. This error occurs after the wu has run just a few seconds. Pc is up to date so is Boinc. Have restarted pc, also reset project, uninstalled boinc and reinstalled it. At this point I don't believe this problem is in my pc's as all other projects are running ok.

I am also having this issue however the messages are telling me that I need to detach and reattach the project using a different url. http://www.123numbers.org/ - I do not know what project url I was previously using so I have tried this for now to see if it resolves the issue.

EDITWell that made no difference, I received one WU which instantly failed.

That is the correct url and the one I am using. Hopefully this issue can be sorted out soon.

This error is now happening on another pc. It occurs on old and new processors as well as intel and amd. This issue needs to be fixed or crunching may come to a halt. All versions of windows that I have are 64 bit and minimum ram is 16 gb currently except for one machine with 8gb.

Below is text from boinc:

Are you using AVG or AVAST, REAL TIME File and URL checker / Anti Virus/Anti Malware Heuristics scanning program?

If so, they either need to be disabled when running BOINC or set to allow web access to the various project URL's and file/data in/out in your BOINC DATA folder and all its sub-folders (project & slots).

I am using Norton & Malwarebytes. All installs of boinc run on separate drive from OS. Both programs are set to exclude the entire drive from all scans and to allow boinc access to the web. I have checked log files in both programs and nothing has been blocked from the drive, boinc, or projects. I have also previously disabled both programs and this made no difference. I have also tried running a limited start up and same result. I still believe this is a problem of the project as I have noted the scores of other participants fall in the same relation to mine. As a note I have been running this project from the first few days and had no problem so far. This is very puzzling to me since I am unable to find any cause at my home and all other projects are running just fine. I am hopeful that some resolution will come soon so I can continue to crunch this project.

Having the same issues on this laptop- http://www.123numbers.org/results.php?hostid=277 May be more on other clients too.

Boinc event log shows this for a string of wu's, maybe 50-

I have been checking at least one of my pc's each day that has had this issue and until today the problem has persisted. Just a few minutes ago all 3 pc's that would error out tasks as stated above are up and running again normally. I have made no changes to my 3 pc's. As of now my guess is something has changed in the work units or I am in a different batch. As for now I am up and running again. I will post update in a few days to confirm all is running normally.

Well the problem is back again. Now it is on a pc that has not had any issues with this project before. It is also back on 2 of the 3 pc's that had the same issue as before. I can come to no other conclusion that this is a project or work unit issue. Does anyone have any possible solutions to the above problem?

I am having the problems now as well with large numbers of failed work units. It seems hit and miss, 2-3 will work normally then a half dozen will immediately fail. Noticed as well it seems just as random on the units themselves, with 2-3 instant fails yet 2 people who finished normally.

I'm seeing this issue also.

Admins: please fix ASAP

Edit: Seems to be related to lack of remaining disk space caused by an LHC Dev project (http://boincai05.cern.ch/CMS-dev/)leaving massive VDI files behind in BOINC\SLOTS

From what I see all tasks (on my computer) ending with _83XXX or higher have been failing. Tasks in the _77XXX to _82XXX range seem to run correctly (although a few ending in _82XXX do fail).

As we now seem to be getting the higher tasks, this project will need to be changed to "No new tasks" unless something gets changed.

I am wondering if it may be related to trying to create a huge array that no longer fits within the memory that is being allocated to the tasks.

No news from project admins. No change in work units to fix problems. Now all my pc's are having same issue with no help or resolution to this situation. This thread was started 11 days ago and no communication of any kind from admins of this project. Hello Admins. Are you still here? Do you even care about this project anymore? I would like to be helpful, but the participants of the project can only do so much when we are trying to talk to a wall.

Guess I will move my pc's to other projects.

Well it looks like the project is grinding to a halt.

Agreed. And still no response or help from admins. I will check in each day to see if there is any change.

It is indeed sad to see a project being abandoned by it's Admins.

Problem occurs for me too.
Using Avast - BOINC directories ARE on the "do not watch" list.

=Lupus= this is not your pc or settings. This is a problem of the project.

I am moving on to other projects since there has been no response from the admins from the time I opened this thread.

I would suggest to all crunchers on this project, don't waste your cycles here and move on to something else more productive than a project that no one seems to be monitoring or helping to fix any issues.

Once this happens one of several things will occur.
1. The admins will help to fix the problems on this project.
2. This project will sit in limbo with a gazillion tasks failing for months to come. Then it will shut down when funding runs out.

My guess at this time is #2.

Good luck to all trying to crunch this project.

Same problem here.

receive a workunit, within 5 sec, error while computing....

by the way, other members from my team, mentionned that there is a flaw in the workunit conception that generate a OUT OF MEMORY!

any chance it will be fix?

I could not have said it better my friend..............I am also giving up on this project. Personally I don't mind issues when a project is in it's early stages. But zero response from the administration forces me to move on to other projects. I will however check back...........if I can to understand what happened.
