I have the same problem on one of my rigs and have not fixed it to date.

Update:
I have found that you can only run Van Der Waerden Numbers on Windows 7 or below I would think.
ATM you cannot run Van Der Waerden Numbers on Windows 10

I have the same problem on one of my rigs and have not fixed it to date.

A simpler app_config.xml is as follows:

<app_config>
<project_max_concurrent>1</project_max_concurrent>
</app_config>

No app name is needed, but note that it will limit the host to one (or whatever you specify) job per project. It won't work if there are sub-projects and you only want to limit one sub-project.

But it is a generic file that can be copied as is into any project folder without needing to make any changes.

To limit the number of concurrently running task at 2 for instance, you can create a "app_config.xml" file to be placed under the project folder.

The "app_config.xml" file will contain :

<app_config>
<app>
<name>example_app</name>
<max_concurrent>2</max_concurrent>
</app>
</app_config>


Don't forget to relaunch reading of the configuration file in order for Boinc to find this app_config.xml file.

This solution allows users to limit the number of tasks according the available memory of their computers.
