We're officially releasing version 42000 to the public. The program has recreated our older bounds for primes up to 70 million, and all essential functions in the server have been stabilized. Happy crunching, everyone!

Good to be in Alpha here again! That was quick. You're moving cards here like a Las Vegas blackjack dealer.
Since the stats directory seems to have been populating properly for the past few days, do the BOINC Stats sites have permission to display the info yet?

Hi Contact,

I'd like to give BOINC Stats permission to report data on our project, but I'm not sure how to contact them.

Hi Contact,

I'd like to give BOINC Stats permission to report data on our project, but I'm not sure how to contact them.

I sent a pm to Bok, the owner of Free-DC. He can be very helpful.

Your post in the forum there should do the trick. I assume that the other stat sites have permission to report the data also?

I've also added version 42100 with the progress bar (reporting at boinc_fraction_done twice for each prime). I have not deprecated 42000 yet. Can you try updating the project and seeing whether the progress bar shows?

Yes, the progress bar is working with version 42100

Yes, the progress-bar shows up! :-)

There is one more thing about the new version:
I only have 11 invalids so far, but all 11 WUs have then been successfully calculated with vers 421.00.
However most of them have at least one and often 2 and 3 tasks calculated with vers 420.00, invariably marked as
"Completed, marked as invalid"
so I guess there must be more differences in 421.00.

I saw this as well with the Linux/Windows versions prior to the DB restore. They would not validate against each other. With a majority of the Flops being Windows I just stopped running my Linux PCs as 80-90% were invalid with Windows being the inverse.

Hi Gunnar,

It might have been that I mistakenly temporarily deprecated the 42000 Windows version. The only changes added to 42100 were:

Writing the new version number to the output file
Counting the number of primes in the interval
    Calling boinc_fraction_done (progress bar)

I'll keep those invalid WUs in mind, though, in case the problem repeats itself.

Hi mmonin,

Our older project versions were very buggy. Could you try running a core on a Linux PC to see if the problem still exists? I'll also do a sanity check for Linux on the server.

I think the validator might be rejecting WUs since it's requiring the version numbers (part of the output) to be the same. I'll get on top of this immediately.

Hi Daniel,

420 and 421 work well. At the time the Linux and Windows apps were separate version numbers.

I've uploaded and immediatley deprecated a version 42200 which puts "1" as the version in case I want to start ignoring the version numbers (the thought process being that setting a dummy value to the version would prevent validation from failing). However, I've chosen the simple fix of deprecating version 42000 so that 42100 is the only one available. Version updates will be rare from here on out, so I'll fix this problem by only having one official version at a time; very little work should be lost when upgrading versions. Thanks for the help, Gunnar and mmonnin! I wouldn't have noticed this had you not pointed it out.

Currently (since 5:32:15 UTC) I receive only 422.00 tasks, and I also see that they invariably don't validate against the 421.00 tasks.
However, I cannot see the 422.00 version on the Applications page???

Bok turned the import back on at Free-DC so we should see our stats there sometime in the next few hours.

Thanks for the info, and the stats are already up to date on his test site https://stats6.free-dc.org/proj/vdw
